IGT and GC2 reach litigation settlement over copyright and intellectual property

The case involved copyright infringement and intellectual property licensing rights related to some gaming industry’s products. Under the agreement, besides providing amicable resolution to all litigation disputes, ownership of 30 digital games developed by GC2 will be transferred to IGT, and IGT shall provide a perpetual license to GC2 to use such games in non-gaming applications.   

International Game Technology PLC (IGT) announced that it has agreed to a litigation settlement with game content developer GC2 Incorporated (GC2) resolving all disputes between the parties related to their lawsuit (GC2 Incorporated v. International Game Technology PLC et al.) in US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The case involved copyright infringement and intellectual property licensing rights related to some of the gaming industry’s most successful products including, but not limited to, Pharaoh’s Fortune, Coyote Moon, Kingpin Bowling, and Lucky Lion Fish. Financial terms of the settlement have not been announced.

Under the agreement, besides providing amicable resolution to all litigation disputes, ownership of 30 digital games developed by GC2 will be transferred to IGT, and IGT shall provide a perpetual license to GC2 to use such games in non-gaming applications.   

“GC2 and its attorneys, Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale, P.C., are pleased with this settlement agreement as it resolves the three years of successful litigation and allows both companies to focus their attention on the development of new land-based and online games that will contribute to successful consumer products,” stated Frank Warzecha, GC2 President.

GC2 is a privately-held software development company located in Hawthorn Woods, Illinois. GC2 and its affiliates, Great Circle Gaming Corporation and Monaco Entertainment Corporation, are responsible for many of the gaming industry’s most successful video-reel slot machine games.
